Sodium Methyl Paraben
I won’t mention any manufacturer’s name, but there are still a lot of companies that use this preservative in their products, even though it has been banned in the European Union. The label says that you can use wipes containing this substance for removing cosmetics safely. But, I don’t think that cosmetic make up remover should have a “de-pigmenting” affect. What do you think? If I wanted lighter skin, there are safer ways to get it.
BHA
This is another common preservative found in products for removing cosmetic make up. It is also another that has been banned by the EU, because it is unsafe. It is a possible human carcinogen that accumulates in the fatty tissues and will penetrate the skin. If you are interested in removing cosmetics safely, don’t buy products that contain it.
Added Fragrances
Almost all products for removing cosmetic make up have an added fragrance. It might be a natural fragrance like Eugenol or linalool. It might be a chemical compound and manufacturers are not required to list which chemicals are used to make the scent. Added fragrances of all kinds, along with artificial preservatives, are the most common causes of allergic reactions.
Look for products that are free of artificial preservatives and fragrances. Organic ingredients make the best cosmetic make up remover.
Before You Put on Your Make-up
For removing cosmetics safely and easily, apply a cream containing the following ingredients before you put on your foundation. Use it right after you wash your face or finish drying off.
